Caravan stolen from home in Burton Dassett

Please be aware that between 1am and 5pm on 26 August, offenders travelled down a track towards a rural home in Burton Dassett and then cropped padlocks off the double wooden gates.

Once on the premises, the offenders stole a white Coachman 470 two berth caravan from the rear garden after removing a cover and hitchlock.

Burglary at home in Dadglow Road, Bishops Itchington

Please be aware that during the night of 26 into 27 August, offenders attempted to break in to a home in Dadglow Road, Bishops Itchington, through a rear UPVC door.  The catflap was smashed and damage was caused to the door but the offenders failed to get inside the house and nothing was stolen.

Burglary at home in Bridge Lane, Ladbroke

Please be aware that between 2 and 5pm on 26 August, offenders removed a rear window from a home in Bridge Lane, Ladbroke and then climbed into the house.

Once inside, the offenders carried out a search before making off.  Nothing appears to have been stolen.

Unknown offenders have gained access to the rear garden and then smashed a bedroom window situated at the rear to gain entry. Offenders have carried out an untidy search of the bedroom and kitchen opening all drawers and cupboards. Other rooms have also been entered. It has not been confirmed what has been stolen at this time.

WREP’s Hate Crime Questionnaires

 

Warwickshire Race Equality Partnership (WREP) is working in collaboration with Warwickshire County Council (WCC) and the Police and Crime Commissioner’s Office to establish the level of support needs for victims and witnesses of Hate Crime and Hate Incidents in Warwickshire.

 

WREP has produced a questionnaires in order to gain this information:

 

a)      Hate Crime Questionnaire – General Public

 

This questionnaire is for the general public and its purpose is to acquire information on what support services are accessed and utilised and if there is a need for additional support services in Warwickshire.  Hate Crime and Hate Incidents are heavily under-reported and we would like to better understand what factors prevent people from reporting and what agencies can do to help victims report.

Mobile phone upgrade scam – fraudsters are impersonating telephone service providers and contacting their clients offering a phone upgrade on a low monthly payment contract. The fraudsters will glean all your personal and financial details which will then be used to contact the genuine phone provider and order a new mobile phone handset. The fraudsters will either intercept the delivery before it reaches the victim’s address or order the handset to a different address. Please make sure that you protect yourself ::-
• Never provide personal/financial information to an unsolicited caller
• Obtain the genuine number of the organisation being represented, and verify the legitimacy of the communication
• If the offer is too good to be true, it probably is
Tax problems – a resident received an unexpected phone call from someone claiming to be calling from HMRC. The resident was told that there might be a ‘problem’ with the consumer’s tax details and was asked to speak to a ‘case worker’. In another case a consumer was told that HMRC had begun court preceding against the consumer. Residents receiving these sorts of bogus HMRC phone calls are usually told that they owe tax and are asked to pay up using an iTune gift card voucher. When the voucher code is handed over it can be spent immediately – the fraudster does not need the physical card.
Online survey prize scam – consumers are warned to beware of online surveys after a resident reported completing one and being told she had ‘won’ a prize. She was required to give the prize organiser her credit card details to receive it, but unwittingly by doing so signed up to a costly monthly subscription for beauty treatments. She was unaware of this until she began to receive packages at her home and several hundred pounds were withdrawn from her account. It is not advisable to provide your credit or debit card details to receive a prize or to pay for postage and packaging for a ‘free’ trial. Act quickly by contacting your bank to stop further payments from your account. You should also make a complaint to Trading Standards, directly or via the Citizens Advice Bureau.
